The Center for Disability Access and Resources (CeDAR) will host our 2nd
Annual CeDAR Honors on October 19, 2010. CeDAR Honors is an event
which will recognize individuals and groups from the FAMU and Tallahassee
community for their accomplishments as, or supporters of, persons with
disabilities.

We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to nominate your colleagues, students, staff,
community members, and friends for one or more CeDAR Honors. Please review the award
categories and nominate a worthy recipient. Nominations must be received by October 11,
2010.

 
CeDAR HONORS CATEGORIES
CeDAR TRAILBLAZER AWARD

This distinguished award is the highest CeDAR Honor. It recognizes the exceptional
accomplishments by a FAMU Alumnus. This individual may be honored for his/her sustained
efforts in areas of advocacy, education, legislation, accessibility, medicine, or rehabilitation. This
individual’s efforts have made a significant impact on the quality of life for persons with
disabilities. This individual may also be a former LDEC/CeDAR participant honored for his/her
outstanding career accomplishments, contradicting the stereotypes of persons with disabilities in
the workforce.

CeDAR VISIONARY AWARD

This award is presented to a FAMU Administrator who through his/her work and deeds promote
the mission, vision, and core values of the CeDAR. This individual leads with integrity and
exhibits a sincere desire to create a campus environment where persons with disabilities are
given equal and full access to all that is FAMU.

CeDAR PACESETTER AWARD

This award recognizes a FAMU faculty member whose actions and deeds promote the mission,
vision, and core values of the CeDAR. This individual utilizes methods of instruction that are
considerate of the needs of students with disabilities; provides academic and professional support
for students with disabilities; and works to ensure that academic accommodations are properly
implemented.

CeDAR BOLSTER AWARD

This award recognizes a FAMU staff member whose actions and deeds promote the mission,
vision, and core values of the CeDAR. This individual embodies the FAMU motto of
“Excellence with Caring” and exhibits a sincere desire to support and accommodate students
with disabilities.

CeDAR LEGACY AWARD

This award recognizes five FAMU students with disabilities (one per class ranking) for their
scholastic achievements at the University, leadership and service to the FAMU and Tallahassee
community, and embodiment of the characteristics that represent FAMU’s legacy of excellence.

CeDAR PARTNERSHIP AWARD

This award recognizes two organizations whose actions and deeds promote the mission, vision,
and core values of the CeDAR. These organizations assist the CeDAR with promoting and
supporting the delivery of services to students with disabilities. The first award is reserved for a
FAMU department. The second award is reserved for a public, private, or non-profit
organization in the community.
 
CeDAR SERVANT HEART AWARD

This award recognizes an individual who has contributed exceptional service as a volunteer
and/or advocate for persons with disabilities throughout the FAMU and/or surrounding
community.
