  Welcome to the Florida A&M Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) – The Rattler Battalion. Our program provides a unique leadership training opportunity for all Florida A&M students, as well as preparing young men and women to serve as Officers in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army National Guard, and U.S. Army Reserve. An academically demanding course, the ROTC program’s goal is to train leaders – not just for the Army, but also the future civilian leaders of the United States. Our program traditionally scores well above the National averages in all summer training camps, as well as receiving multiple opportunities for Cadets to attend training at the Army’s Airborne, Air Assault, and Mountain Warfare schools. The Rattler Battalion has also sent Cadets to various African countries as a part of the Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency (CULP) internship.

WHAT IS ROTC?
ROTC is an elective curriculum you take along with your required college classes. It gives you the tools, training, and experiences that will help you succeed in any competitive environment. Along with great leadership training, Army ROTC can pay for your college tuition. Because ARMY ROTC is an elective, you can participate during your freshman and sophomore years without any obligation to join the Army. You will have a normal college student experience like everyone else on campus, but when you graduate, you will be commissioned as an Officer in the Army.
