The Essential Theatre is proud to present The Story written by Tracey Scott Wilson and directed by Marci J. Duncan. An ambitious African-American reporter investigates a murder and finds the BEST story...but at what cost? Inspired by the Janet Cooke journalism scandal of 1981, Wilson explores the elusive nature of truth as boundaries between reality and fiction, morality and ambition, and self-identity and cultural heritage become dangerously blurred.
Preview performances are scheduled for Wednesday, October 24 and Thursday, October 25 at 8 p.m. and general admission is $8.
Other scheduled preformances are as follows:
Friday, October 26 at 8 p.m.
Saturday, October 27 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Sunday, October 28 at 3 p.m.
Admission is $15 per adult, $12 for senior citizens, $8 for student/child and FAMU Student are admitted free with a valid FAMU ID.
The FAMU School of Journalism and Graphic Communication will conduct a post-show discussion exploring the ethics and self-identity of journalists following the Saturday, October 27 matinee performance.
