TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Mayor John Marks has tapped Henry Lewis III, Ph.D., dean of Florida A&M University (FAMU’s) College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, to serve on the Tallahassee Charter Review Committee.
The purpose of the 10-member committee is to review the role, duties, and functions of the Mayor and the City Commission for any amendments to the City Charter, which the Committee deems appropriate and necessary. The City Commission shall conduct at least one public hearing on the recommendations of the Committee. Lewis is no stranger to local government having served on the Leon County Commission from 1986-1990 as Tallahassee’s first African-American County Commissioner.
“This is a tremendous honor to have been selected to served with a cadre of talented and well-qualified leaders in this great community,” said Lewis.
