TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida A&M University (FAMU) is a recipient of the 2008 Oracle Excellence Award. The award recognizes organizations for innovative deployments of Oracle Fusion Middleware with Oracle Applications.
“By using Oracle Fusion Middleware as the preferred middleware platform for Oracle’s application offerings, customers can lower the cost of integration and also prepare for future application upgrades,” said Jose Lazares, vice president, Oracle applications integration development.
In January 2008, FAMU announced a successful "go-live" of Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) 8.9. Through the new HCM, FAMU replaced its legacy payroll system paying employees on January 4, 2008, by direct deposit or paper check from the new system. The previous system relied heavily on manual paper-based tasks for routine transactions, such as changes to employee addresses and dependent status.
“This prestigious recognition symbolizes FAMU’s evolution into a technological advanced and innovative institution of higher learning,” said Robert Seniors, vice president for FAMU’s Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) and chief information officer. “We plan to continue on this positive incline in technological advances and are committed to maintaining a technological sound campus.”
