TALLAHASSE E, Fla. – Stephen Beasley of the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Small Business Development Center was recently named Volunteer of the Year by Florida Small Business Development Center Network.
“What a spectacular recognition for such a hard worker,” said Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla. “His 25 years of involvement with the Florida SBDC network and the SBDC and FAMU make him a truly deserving individual of this award.”
Beasley, a member of the FAMU and Florida SBDC advisory boards, was awarded the honor for his continued service to the Florida SBDC.
“After I was awarded the regional Volunteer of the Year award, I was very appreciative,” Beasley said. “I didn’t know that each of the regional winners had the chance of winning statewide. So when they called my name, I was surprised, but still very appreciative.”
As a member of the Florida SBDC advisory board and a liaison for the FAMU SBDC advisory board, Beasley works with small businesses in many capacities. He has hosted workshops, provided technical assistance for businesses’ marketing needs and help raised money for special projects.
Beasley is the founder of the Small Business of the Year Recognition Luncheon.
