TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida A&M University (FAMU) President James H. Ammons and Carmen Cummings, executive director of FAMU Office of Alumni Affairs are Leadership Tallahassee Distinguished Leadership Award Finalists. Ammons is a finalist for the Leader of the Year Award. Cummings is a finalist for the Servant Leadership Award.
“Leadership Tallahassee congratulates all of the outstanding leaders who comprise our finalists,” said Sharon G. Berrian, chair of the Distinguished Leadership Awards. “They epitomize the best in our community and they serve as wonderful role models to others in Tallahassee who, through their active civic involvement, make a positive difference in the lives of our citizens.”
The Distinguished Leadership Award event is Leadership Tallahassee’s major community fundraiser with proceeds to go toward the Youth Leadership Tallahassee program.
“Leadership Tallahassee’s mission is to cultivate a diverse network of emerging and experienced leaders committed to improving the community,” said Barbara Boone, executive director of Leadership Tallahassee. “This event provides us an opportunity showcase community leadership and at the same time provide support for our future leaders.”
The Leadership Tallahassee Distinguished Leadership Awards program is scheduled for Thursday, September 18, at 6 p.m. at the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center.
