Statement from FAMU Interim President Castell Vaughn Bryant
regarding
FAMU Student Rally on the Pappas Report
TALLAHASSEE - The Pappas Report and the discussions that will take place in the coming months are among the important issues facing the university. This proposal is being reviewed by the entire State University System. No decisions are imminent.
Our students are playing a constructive role in addressing the university’s issues – and we do count on their good judgment. In this case, however, I would like to reiterate that the Pappas Report is not a short-term, pending issue. It is our understanding that the Board of Governors will make no decisions on this report until late 2007, and, possibly, not until 2008. This will come after many workshops and information sessions across the state.
At this juncture, we must maintain our focus on the most critical issues and pending decisions facing the university during this legislative session.
