Health and Safety Day Scheduled Oct. 15
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Annual Florida A&M University (FAMU) Homecoming Health and Safety Day will be on Tuesday, October 15, in the Hansel Tookes Sr. Recreation Center from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The event is open to the public, and it will offer an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and citizens of Tallahassee to become informed and empowered to take charge of their health. More than 100 community partners have been invited to provide free health screenings for diabetes, blood pressure, osteoporosis, stroke, substance abuse and many more, and to share valuable health promotion and disease prevention information.

“This event is a time when individuals can obtain their health numbers, which will help them get to know their health status,” said Mildred Brickler, event chair. “When it becomes a part of the annual homecoming activities, individuals can make sure to get checked for free because all they have to do is show up and partake in the valuable opportunity. Everyone should plan to come.”

Parking will be available at Bragg Memorial Stadium with a bus to transport participants to the event. For further information, contact Mildred Brickler at (850) 599-3487 or by e-mail: mildred.brickler@famu.edu.
