TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Retail Federation (FRF) announced that the Walmart Foundation has donated $10,000 to the FRF Scholarship House at Florida A&M University (FAMU). The donation will be used by the Southern Scholarship Foundation to contribute toward the maintenance and upkeep of the house. “When FRF funded and built this scholarship house in 1997, the membership of the Florida Retail Federation stepped up to assist with monetary and in-kind donations,” said Rick McAllister, FRF president and CEO. “We have been proud to see the graduates who have come through the house over the last 12 years and will continue to accomplish this success on behalf of these deserving students. Walmart’s donation makes that continued success possible.”
Representative Alan Williams (D-Tallahassee) and Adrienne Wright, FAMU director of development, were on-hand for the presentation ceremony.
“This contribution made by Southern Scholarship Foundation will benefit students directly through on-campus housing,” Wright said. “We want to continue to work in partnership with them and to develop additional scholarship housing to benefit students.” “Walmart is pleased to support the Retail Scholarship Foundation House at Florida A&M University and we remain committed to helping the communities we serve," said Cindi Marsiglio, senior manager for Public Affairs with Walmart. “Through this grant, we are hopeful that residents will continue to excel.” About the FRF The FRF is a statewide trade association that represents Florida’s most important industry – retailing – and has served as “The Voice of Florida Retailing” since its inception in 1937. Florida retailers pay more than $35 billion in wages annually; provide nearly one out of every five jobs in the state; and collect and remit approximately $22 billion in sales and retail-related taxes for Florida’s government each year.
