The Talent Search program identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education. The program publicizes the availability of financial aid and assists participants with the postsecondary application process. Talent Search also encourages persons who have not completed education programs at the secondary or postsecondary level to enter or reenter and complete postsecondary education.
73% of seniors served during the project year will graduate during the project year with a regular secondary school diploma, within the standard number of years.
10% of seniors served during the project year will complete a rigorous secondary school program of study during the project year with a regular secondary school diploma within the standard number of years.
90% of non-senior participants served each project year will complete the current academic year and continue in school for the next academic year at the next grade level.
65% of participants who have graduated with a regular secondary school diploma during the project year will enroll in an institution of higher of higher education by the fall of the semester immediately following high school graduation or will have received notification, by the fall semester immediately following high school from an institution of higher education of acceptance by deferred enrollment until the next academic semester.
35% of participants served during the project year, who enrolled in an institution of higher education by the fall semester immediately following high school graduation or the next academic semester as a result of acceptance by deferred enrollment will complete a program of postsecondary education within six years.
