 Executive Director Position Advertisement
The Leon County Research and Development Authority seeks applications for the position of Executive Director for its operations in Innovation Park in Tallahassee, Florida. The mission of the Authority is to work in affiliation with Florida A and M University and Florida State University to develop the research park, to promote scientific research and development activities, and to foster economic development to broaden the economic base of Leon County Florida. The Executive Director reports to a nine person Board of Governors and is responsible for implementing the Board's vision for the Authority.
The individual chosen for this position must have the background and skills necessary to attract potential tenants to the park, drawing from possible candidate firms or organizations from across the nation. The ability to communicate to others, on a scientist-to-scientist level, detailed information regarding the extensive intellectual capital present at the two universities, the nature of research being conducted at the affiliated universities, and the type of advanced scientific equipment on their campuses.
Concurrently the executive director is expected to have experience in business management necessary to supervise park staff, exercise fiscal control over park resources, maintain tenant relations and manage contracts on an as needed basis with legal counsel, building management firms, audit firms and outside vendors.
Qualifications:
Must demonstrate in-depth current knowledge of science and/or engineering issues.
Must have documented experience in business management. An academic degree in science or engineering as well
as a degree in business administration or documented relevant business experience is preferred.

Florida A & M University is seeking adjunct instructors to teach college algebra, trigonometry, physical science, biological science, general chemistry, freshman composition, humanities and psychology for the 2010 Fall Semester.  Each adjunct instructor must hold the M.S. or Ph.D. degree in the discipline and has successfully completed eighteen semester hours of course work in the discipline in which courses will be taught.  The candidate must have a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate teaching and be able to contribute to course instruction as well as course development.  The candidate should be able to communicate (orally and written) effectively.  Experience with online teaching tools, test development, and committee coordination is desired.
