Have you noticed that your WebPages are loading faster than ever before! Your EIT Networking team recently embarked on a network upgrade project which involved the repalcement of the campus network backbone routers and the upgrade of the core wireless routers. This upgrade increased the internet bandwidth from 150Mbps to 255Mbps which enables the campus community to access external websites at much faster speeds than before.
Quick Facts about your FAMU Network Your FAMU Network has 14.89 miles of Fiber optic backbone
Over ninety-nine percent (99%) network uptime
The network is serviced by two (2) different internet service providers (ISPs) that are configured for redundancy in the event one of the connections fails
The total bandwidth to the commodity internet 255Mbps with the ability to burst at higher speeds as needed
The network is connected to the Internet2 research backbone at over 1 Gbps and to the Florida Lambda Rail which provides increased and direct connections to other Florida Universities

The CampusEAI Grant award will provide a five-year cumulative total of approximately $1.2 Million and enable the University to accomplish strategic Information Technology goals and objectives in the face of budget cuts!
Through the collaborative efforts of Enterprise Information Technology and the CapusEAI Consortium, an onDemand portal that provides the campus community with a “single-sign on” to teaching and learning interests, student services and extracurricular parts of campus life will soon be available!
