Basic course covering major groups of insects, their external morphology, life histories, ecology, and importance.
HOS 2010C Horticultural Sciences (3)
Prereq: BOT 1010C. Scientific concepts on which horticultural are based, including biology techniques and industry. Pruning, propagation, plant classifications and pest control.
SOS 3022C Nature and Properties of Soils (3)
Prereq: CHM 1045. Fundamental principles of soil science: origin, formation composition, and classification of soils and their properties as related to growth of higher plants.
SOS 3022L Nature and Properties of Soils Lab (1)
Prereq: SOS 3022C or concurrent registration. Evaluation of the physical, chemical and mineralogical properties of soil and soil separate.
AGR 3210 Field Crop Science (3)
Background materials. Concepts, theories, principles, and practices, of field crop production. Lecture/Lab.
AGR 3232 Pasture and Range Management (3)
Establishment of permanent pastures their fertilization and management; temporary and rotation pastures. Lecture/Lab.
AGG 4935 Agricultural Senior Seminar (1)
Required for all seniors in any Agricultural Science curriculum. Presentation of professional seminars will be stressed and students will be required to present one seminar. Guest seminars will be presented when possible.
AGR 4512 Plant Ecology (3)
Environment conditions controlling plan growth; nature's principles and methods of regarding the processes of plant succession and stabilization.
SOS 4427 Soil and Plant Analysis (3)
Prereq: SOS 3022, CHM 1046. Principles applied in the analysis of soil and plant samples, sampling procedures, relationship of nutrient deficiencies and symptoms exhibited in plants, utilization of the results of analysis in the management of soil for plant productivity.
SOS 3211 Soil and Water Conversation (3)
Land measurement; contours and contour running; planning, designing, and layout farm ponds; and designing and operation of farm irrigation.
SOS 4732 Soil Survey (3)
Prereq: SOS 3022. Classification of soils, use of soil survey equipment and preparation of soil survey map. Several extended field trips required.
SOS 4131C Soil Fertility and Fertilizers (3)
Prereq: SOS 3022, CHM 1046. Principles underlying maintenance and improvement of soil productivity. Sources, manufacture, properties of fertilizer materials, and principles of fertilizer applications.
