Department of Campus Safety & Security

The Florida A&M University Department of Campus Safety and Security (FAMU DCSS) Student Escort Team (SET) is a student-based section of FAMU DCSS. The escort program is available to all students who feel uncomfortable walking during the hours of darkness. SET's objective is to provide a safe transportation alternative for members of the University’s community after normal hours. This is achieved through foot/vehicle patrols of the campus and providing escorts. The Student Escort Team provides additional eyes for the FAMU -DCSS if any member of the Escort Team witnesses suspicious activity or if a situation occurs that jeopardizes the safety or welfare of person or property.  This team is committed to protecting the safety and security of the entire campus community. The hours of operation are Thursday-Sunday from 8PM- 1AM during the fall and spring semesters. However, hours may change if deemed necessary to keep the FAMU campus safe.

Customers may request a ride by calling 850-561-2357 and tell the dispatcher where they would like to be picked up and where they wish to go. Services is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

When a patron is not at the pick-up site, headquarter will be notified. It is the dispatcher’s decision when to declare the call a no-show; but the driver might wait at least 2 minutes. A patron who miss his or her pickup can call back to request an escort again but will be re-assigned according to the order in which the call was received.
