Parks elected National Bar Association president
FAMU Board of Trustee member Attorney Daryl D. Parks is the new President-Elect of the National Bar Association (NBA).
Parks is the seventh attorney from Florida to serve as president.
Founded in 1925, the National Bar Association is the nation's oldest and largest national association of predominately African-American lawyers and judges.
It has 84 affiliate chapters throughout the United States and affiliations in Canada, the United Kingdom, Africa and the Caribbean.
It represents a professional network of more than 20,000 lawyers, judges, educators and law students.
Attorney Parks is the managing partner of Parks & Crump, LLC. Attorney Parks, a FAMU alumnus, received his bachelor’s degrees in political science and economics, while serving as the first two-consecutive term Student Government Association President in FAMU history.
He received his juris doctorate from Florida State University School of Law. He is a past president of the Virgil Hawkins Chapter of the NBA, past chairman of the Minority Caucus for the American Association for Justice, and a former board member of the National Bar Association, where he now serves as General Counsel.
Attorney Parks currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Florida Justice Association, the board of the Tallahassee Urban League, and is chairman of the board for the Leon County Sickle Cell Foundation. Attorney Parks, also a former president of the FAMU Boosters, continues his commitment to service at FAMU by serving on the FAMU Foundation Board of Directors, for which he is the former chairman.
