Dawson inducted into Hall of Fame
Andre Dawson ended his career officially with 438 home runs, but his emotional acceptance speech in Cooperstown should add one more to that total.  By all accounts, he knocked it out of the park.  His speech was comical and reminescant, but more importantly, it was filled with positive messages for people young and old. Dawson was one of three enshrinees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 25.  Full Story
FAMU receives patents for inventions
Four Florida A&M University professors and a staff member received patents for their inventions that range from detecting radioactive materials in luggage to treating a particular type of breast cancer.

FAMU 'Toasts the Wonders of the Vineyard'
Judy Ammons, first lady of Florida A&M University, will serve as chairperson of FAMU’s Tenth Annual FAMU Grape Harvest Festival along with Jane Marks, first lady of Tallahassee, and Mary Barley, a wellness coach and author, as co-chairpersons for the Tenth Annual FAMU Grape Harvest Festival.  FAMU will host its Annual Grape Harvest Festival Saturday, August 21, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s theme is “Toasting the Wonders of the Vineyard.”   Full Story

The Florida A&M University Marching “100” and Greek organizations, the Alpha Eta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and the Upsilon Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Inc., left their hearts on the stage during their high-spirited performances at The 2010 ESPYs post party on July 14.  Full Story
