FamCast Webcasting SystemFamCast is The Florida A&M University Webcast System. Since it's inception, FamCast has been committed to bringing quality audio and video content to rattlers and users all over the internet. Over the years, FamCast has allowed users all over the nation to be a part of FAMU Athletic Events, Homecoming Festivities, Board of Trustees/Governor's Meetings, Lectures, and much much more. FamCast is also responsible for streaming the FAMU Campus Radio Station, WANM 90.5. Users are able to tune into the various shows that go on throughout the day 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In November of 2007 FAMCast upgraded its broadcast equipment to include Sony HD video cameras and a video mixing unit called the Tricaster. With these additions FAMCast is now able to produce multi camera shoots with live graphics and switching. This made it possible to produce a more polished product for live Webcasting and for video on demand. FAMCast continued to broadcast the BOT & BOG meetings held on campus but with the new equipment EIT’s webcast team is able to simultaneously produce a high quality output for DVD and a version to be archived on the FAMCast website. The technology upgrades have also provided the webcasting team with the ability to achieve live broadcast from several events across campus at the same time.
Over the last year EIT’s webcast team was able to broadcast ninety-five percent (95%) of all of the events held on campus. These events have included the International Renowned speakers from the Pharmacy Department, Distinguished Alumni, Campus organizations/classes and three performances by the World Famous Marching 100. In the Fall 2008 Semester the webcasting team was able to provide a webcast most of the FAMU football games.
