About our ServicesWhile the college experience is often exciting and enjoyable, it can also be quite stressful. At the Office of Counseling Services, students will find a committed group of trained, multidisciplinary professionals ready to assist them with a variety of academic and personal concerns to foster positive college adjustment. Our office offers a variety of programs and services which include:
 Individual Counseling (12 free sessions each semester)
Individual counseling is available at the Office of Counseling Services to help students address a variety of concerns and issues. Students get 12 free sessions each semester to meet one on one with a counselor. We provide a professional, confidential atmosphere. Students may make an appointment or walk-in. To schedule an appointment with a counselor, call 599-3145.

Relationships Time Management Self Esteem Social Isolation Stress Grief Anxiety Sexual Orientation Depression Study Skills/Academics Anger Management Sexual Assault/Rape Alcohol/Drugs Family Group Counseling The Office of Counseling Services offers groups in the Fall and Spring Semesters of the academic year. Please check back in August to see what groups are being offered for Fall Semester 2009. Groups recently offerered have been: Transitions (female freshmen), Sisters (female only), MALES (males only), New Life (expectant parents), and Grief. If you would like to suggest a group you feel would be beneficial for yourself and others, please call 599-3145.
Couples Counseling Couples counseling is offered to address a variety of issues that may develop in the relationship, including communication skills, problem solving, and trust. In order to be eligible for couples counseling, one person in the relationship has to be a registered FAMU student.
Psychiatric Consultation The Office of Counseling Services has a psychiatrist that offers services for those students who would like to discuss the option of medication. This service is provided free to students and is voluntary. As part of the policy af the Office of Counseling Services, those students who are interested in medication as an option must also meet with a counselor at least once a month. To schedule an appointment to meet with the psychiatrist, call 599-3145.
