Survey Administration Services
The Office of University Assessment works with the Office of Institutional Research to conduct multiple surveys of students, faculty, and staff each year. Many of these surveys allow FAMU to evaluate the quality and impact of programs and services in relation to the University’s mission and strategic initiatives. FAMU also employs national surveys that allow the University to compare certain performance levels to those of peer institutions.
As an additional function, the Office of University Assessment offers a set of survey services to programs and units in all divisions of the University. These services include support in initiating, developing, and administration of unit or division specific surveys with the purpose of giving insight to drive efficiency/effectiveness. In addition, the Office of University Assessment supports unit personnel in the analysis of survey data that are directly related to program outcomes.
The Office of Assessment and Office of Institutional Research employ two platforms for conducting surveys of student, faculty, and staff.
- SurveyMonkey: A web-based application that allows users to create and publish online surveys in minutes, view results graphically and in real time.
- Qualtrics: A web application for creating surveys as well, but provides more comprehensive analysis and customization based on sophisticated survey logic.
The Office of University Assessment makes the applications available to all programs for use in conducting unit-specific surveys. Staff members in both the Office of Institutional Research and the Office of University Assessment are qualified and experienced in survey administration and analysis.
