Master of Architecture

Program Description
The Florida A&M University School of Architecture offers two graduate degree programs in architecture. The Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) program is the professional program leading to the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)-accredited degree. This program accommodates both a two-year curriculum for those students with a four-year, pre-professional degree in architecture and a three-and-one-half-year curriculum for those students without a pre-professional degree in architecture.

The culmination of the master’s program experience is the student’s thesis project. The Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree program leads to a professional degree accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)—the educational credentials needed for licensure as a registered, practicing architect.  The curriculum of study is comprised of studio, lecture, thesis development, and elective requirements. The culmination of the Master of Architecture studies is the Master’s Thesis Project. This final exercise is intended to be a highly personal synthesis of all the knowledge, experiences, and skills gained in design studio and the support courses, driven by the student’s specific focus and individual interests.
