Prospective Students

Dear Prospective Student,

Prospective Students

The College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) is a significant academic component of Florida A&M University (FAMU), an 1890 Land-Grant institution.  Through CAFS, FAMU fulfills its mission to provide a comprehensive educational program that integrates academic instruction, research, extension and community outreach that is global in scope, and internationally recognized for excellence.

CAFS has a unique mission to prepare and train students like you who seek to continue their education to become world class leaders and problem solvers in professions related to agriculture and food sciences.

The college seeks qualified students who possess strong critical thinking and communication skills, a sense of environmental stewardship, ethics, and a quest for lifelong learning.

Why study at CAFS

Students can select a field of study to earn their undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, certificate and associate degrees from 10 outstanding academic program options that develop workplace readiness through internships, co-ops and fellowships in the U.S. and abroad.

High academic achievement is highly probable given the small student-teacher ratio that makes it possible to maintain an often rigorous learning environment with close interaction between students and faculty.

Student life on campus is interesting and diverse, both at the university and college-wide.  There are many extra-curricular activities for students  including 10 CAFS student organizations and 90 student organizations including  the FAMU Concert and Gospel Choirs, an award-winning theatre department, an accomplished athletic program, a highly acclaimed band and music department, intramural sports, volunteer groups and cultural enrichment activities that are ongoing throughout the year.
