Medical & Dental Corps
Provide the finest medical support in order to meet the Navy and Marine Corps mission
Medical and Dental Option
The Medical Programs Office will convene a selection board each July to select the most qualified applicants for the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship (AFHPS) and Uniform Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) programs. For an applicant to be considered competitive and subsequently accepted, the midshipmen should have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (with a strong emphasis in calculus, physics, biology, and chemistry) and high Medical College Aptitude Test (MCAT) or Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) scores.
Note: A maximum of 25 midshipmen per year may be selected into the medical and dental school commissioning pipeline. As you can see, this is a very small number of candidates considering the pool of students include candidates from over 60 NROTC programs nationwide.
