Laurevius R. Washington
Assistant Marine Officer Instructor
Laurevius R. Washington enlisted into the Marine Corps on 22 October 1997 and completed his Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation from Marine Corps Recruit Training, Private First Class (Meritoriously) Washington attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Upon graduation Private First Class Washington was assigned the MOS 3531, Basic Motor Transport Operator.
Private First Class Washington reported to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for Motor Transport School. Following graduation in April 1998, Private First Class Washington reported to 2nd Maintenance Bn, H&S Co Motor Pool, Camp LeJeune, North Carolina where he served as a Motor Transport Operator and Dispatcher.
In July of 2000, Corporal Washington reported Okinawa, Japan where he was assigned to 9th Engineer Support Bn, where he served as Dispatcher, Medium Section Line Noncommissioned officer and Licensing Noncommissioned Officer.
In July of 2001 Corporal Washington reported to 2nd Maintenance Bn, Heavy Maintenance Co, Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. After being promoted to Sergeant in September 2002, Sergeant Washington attached to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as at Wrecker Section NCO and Platoon Sergeant. Upon completion of deployment Sergeant Washington reported back to 2nd Maintenance Bn, Bravo Co, where he served as Wrecker Section NCOIC.
In July of 2004 Sergeant Washington reported to Garrison Mobile Equipment, Marine Corps Base, Okinawa, Japan. Sergeant Washington served as Corporals Course Lead Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Chief Dispatcher, Training Noncommissioned Officer and Vehicle Coordinator.
In October of 2006 Sergeant Washington reported to Drill Instructor School, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation from school, Sergeant Washington was assigned to 1st Recruit Training Bn, Alpha Co. While assigned to Alpha Co, Staff Sergeant Washington completed seven training cycles and quota duty as the Medical Rehabilitation Platoon Senior Drill Instructor. While on Drill Instructor Duty Staff Sergeant Washington held the billets of Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor.
In January of 2010, Staff Sergeant Washington report to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Bn, H&S Co Motor Pool, Camp Pendleton, California. There Staff Sergeant Washington deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. There Staff Sergeant Washington served as Platoon Sergeant and Truck Master.
In May of 2012, Staff Sergeant Washington reported to Officer Candidate School, Quantico, Virginia, where he was assigned in support of the summer Bulldog Program, while there he was promoted to his current rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
Gunnery Sergeant Washington reported Florida A&M University September of 2012 and is currently serving as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor.
Gunnery Sergeant Washington’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal with three gold starsin lieu of fourth award, and Good Conduct Medal with three bronze stars in lieu of 4th Award.
