Center for International Agricultural Trade, Development Research and Training (CIATDRT)
The Center for International Agricultural Trade, Development Research and Training (CIATDRT) manages the college’s international agricultural development assistance, research and training programs in the developing world. Through the combined programs of the Office of International Agricultural Programs (OIAP) and CIATDRT, the College continues to build on a 40 year international agriculture tradition.
Mission Statement:
To provide training, research, and development assistance to public and private domestic and international organizations, from a variety of perspectives, particularly in the areas of small enterprise development, marketing, international trade, and sustainable agriculture to improve the economic status and quality of life for limited resourced people globally.
The Center for Domestic and International Agricultural Trade, Development Research and Training has focused on contracting and granting opportunities in the areas of domestic and international trade, research in biotechnology and integrated pest management, and international agricultural education and training programs.
International Agriculture Research
The CIATDRT conducts international agriculture research in Africa, Asia and South America. International Research programs are focused on biotechnology research in India and Bangladesh, Integrated Pest Management and Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource and Environmental Management work in Ecuador, small enterprise development research and Land Reform Policy studies in South Africa.

International Agricultural Development
The CIATDRT successfully conducts international agricultural development and training programs in Africa and the Caribbean. The programs provide technical assistance to improve the productivity, income and employment of historically disadvantaged producers and processors in South Africa and small-scale agricultural enterprises involved with high value crops in Haiti, Jamaica, and Guyana. The development assistance work is funded through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Partners of the Americas and FAMU.
International Short-Term Training
The Florida A&M University, College of Agriculture and Food Sciences, Technology and Agriculture, Center for International Agricultural Trade and the United States Department of Agriculture, Cochran Fellows Program sponsors short-term training for Industry Professionals. The program focuses on improving production, post harvest handling, value-added product development and global marketing. Participants are given technical and practical (hands-on) experience in molecular analysis and food quality evaluation.
