FAMU Research & Extension Center

The FAMU Research and Extension Center is committed to excellence in education, research and extension to meet the needs of a diverse population in Florida.  The activities conducted at the Center are designed to:

  • Enhance the productivity and competitiveness of small-scale agricultural enterprises.
  • Provide educational support and programs for small-scale farmers and agribusinesses, agricultural and horticultural industries, families, individuals, youth and communities. 
  • Provide experiential learning for college and K-12 students in the food and agricultural sciences.

The Center boasts 267 acres of forested and grazing farm land, crop land, natural areas and facilities, including:

  • Teleconference Center– a state of the art facility equipped with video conferencing and distance learning capabilities, meeting room for indoor training activities, laboratory and demonstration kitchen.
  • Farm House– Office space equipped with small meeting area
  • Small-Scale Livestock Facilities
  • Animal Health Facilities– housing the Veterinary Technology academic program.
  • Pavilion and Outdoor Learning Laboratory
  • Crop demonstration areas– approximately 10 acres currently under cultivation, a greenhouse, two hoop houses and two shade structures
