About The Herd Health Program
The mission of the Herd Health Program is to train, and inform community-based clientele, students, and extension personnel in the application of sound, science-based herd health practices designed to improve health, efficiency and management of food producing animals. Our emphasis is on programs that will demonstrate the prevention, control and/or management of pathogens, parasites, and other hazards from a herd, food safety, and bio-security approach.
The Program focuses on:
• Prevention and control of diseases, parasites and other pathogens in food producing animals (small ruminants, cattle, swine).
• Food Safety & Biosecurity
• Marketing and production management of small-scale livestock.
