Abstract
Franklin County located in Florida’s panhandle on the gulf coast has a long history and vibrant culture tied to its local seafood industry. Surrounded by the Apalachicola bay arguably one of the most productive estuaries in the world, Franklin County has historically harvested more that 90 percent of the oysters supplied to Floridians and over 10 percent of nation wide supply.
This analysis examines the relationships between selected economic variables and selected variables of the seafood industry in order to try and draw inferences on the subject matter.
Some relation has been derived between the community and Franklin County and its seafood industry but the overall trend shows no relationship between the factors.
